The healthcare industry in the United States is one of the most thriving industries in the world. The industry consists of thousands of suppliers that are faced with common challenges and complexities that have been growing for some time. More than ever this New Year sets the stage for new opportunities to grow our businesses in the healthcare industry.  From a global perspective, by having an understanding of the key healthcare issues throughout North America, Asia and Africa, we can gain a broader view of its global impact that better prepares us to operate in the marketplace. Through years of study and research, I have developed a wealth of knowledge related to these issues and challenges.

After 30 plus years as an attorney, I have been fortunate to serve as CEO of SourceMark, LLC. for the past eight years. My profession includes multi-business collaborations and extensive work with a number of worldwide media conglomerates. I received my Juris Doctorate degree from Vanderbilt University Law School and participated in programs from Amos Tuck at Dartmouth School of Business in the Executive Management programs, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. It is my belief that creative strategy, organizational development, team-building and systems evaluation are essential to develop the infrastructure that promotes growth, profitability, and success for any industry. My history has given me a unique entrepreneurial perspective that allows me to deliver my message through lectures in various Symposiums, universities and community gatherings.

During my time as a university professor,  I have been active with numerous professional and community service organizations, including the TriState Minority Supplier Development Council (TSMSDC). As author and publisher, my most recent book, “Cosmetology and the Law” was published in 2001.

In the coming weeks I will be communicating through newsletters to help others understand the complexities in the healthcare industry. I will also address the challenges faced with leading a diverse business.  While there are plenty of opportunities to grow in this industry it is important to understand and mitigate the risks and challenges that we face in this industry by all players. It’s important to understand how to navigate these complexities and how market leaders grow and thrive through exclusivity.

It’s my strong believe that, without addressing these challenges the healthcare industry will not be able to flourish as it should. It is important to take the entire healthcare supply chain into account and understand what needs to be done. Together we will find solutions to these problems and bring a positive change for diverse suppliers in the healthcare industry.
